[Lucifer had been prowling all day waiting to find or stumble across Castiel. And when he finally did, he all but grabbed him up and abruptly they were up on a tall building. Sigils are smeared on the ground, sealing them both in--or at the very least keeping everything else out.]
[Castiel hasn't been venturing outside much lately; he hasn't even been getting off Crowley's couch for the most part, weak enough that he generally slept most of the day. But today he felt a little better and had left for a short walk, and of course the instant he finally set foot out of the safety of the demon's house had been when Lucifer had found him, and a moment of disorientation and he blinked, stunned briefly before he looked around. The sigils he noticed and understood immediately, registering them before his brother's voice.]
Lucifer.
[He isn't sure whether to be frightened, angry, or confused, so he settles for all three.]
[It's similar to the way they'd first met outside Heaven, with Castiel trapped and Lucifer calmly staring from the edge of the flames. But there is no curiosity or warmth in his gaze now. He is as cold and alien as the rumors would have had people believe, just a starving tiger in a too-small cage.]
[Castiel ignores the question for a moment, eyes glancing over the sigils once again, taking a few steps backwards. Finally though he responds, eyes narrowing slightly.]
You just abducted me.
[That's pretty much what's wrong right now, and he truly is being dense in missing the actual point of Lucifer's question.]
And don't bother trying to get the sigils off, Castiel. I'm not going to hurt you unless you make me. I just want to talk, and getting you away from little Sam or Crowley...psh.
[Lucifer watches him dispassionately, then takes a single step closer. Reminding him there's no point backing off; Lucifer can be near him if he wants.]
[He watches Lucifer carefully, silent when he speaks. Castiel knew God was in the Port, somewhere; he'd been informed of what had happened with the shadows in the Darkness. But speaking to Lucifer...
His head tilts just slightly, clearly an indication that he's interested in elaboration, but he's not about to ask or demand any more information.]
What He said...doesn't matter. [It's too personal, still too raw for him to even think about repeating it to someone else.] What matters is that He is our Father. It's not some alternate version, not an imposter or a trick.
If we find Him, we can figure out a way to get home. I think the only reason He hasn't done anything here is...well, let's face it. He's been absent for a long time.
Why do you believe finding Him would give us a way to leave?
[Their Father doesn't care to act. They both know that. Even if they somehow could figure out who He is, does Lucifer really expect Him to do anything?]
[He wants to ask how Lucifer plans to do either of those things, and how to find Him to begin with, but is soon distracted from his questions by that order. He has no intentions of following it.]
[It isn't a shock for Lucifer to be suddenly in front of him, Castiel half-expecting it; he doesn't resist, but he does stare directly back at his brother, making it clear he doesn't appreciate this.
He holds back any comment he might have had in response to Lucifer's excuse of his own behavior; nothing Castiel would have had to say would be useful. Instead, he answers the question.]
My healing has yet to return.
[Which is true. He just has no intention of explaining why he needs it.]
[But he lets Castiel go, even though he doesn't back off at all. He tilts his head as he looks his brother over, pale and sickly thing that he is now. But it's Castiel that is most alarming. His Grace is...weakened.]
[He isn't certain whether Lucifer is asking about his physical injuries or what happened to him before, to lose his powers, but he doesn't feel inclined to answer either. He's more distracted by feeling trapped between the border of the sigils and Lucifer, gaze casting across the sigils again to get an idea of exactly what their effect is, responding distantly to Lucifer.]
Nothing.
[It's obviously a lie, meant to indicate his doesn't want to answer rather than serve as an actual answer itself.]
[That answer is prompt and honest, surprising himself. But he doesn't. His time here has been horrible aside from a few glimmers, and he's spent most of it unwell or depressed or feeling alone and trapped. No, he doesn't like it here.]
Let's just say you should reexamine who you consider allies...and who you want dead.
It doesn't matter to you that I'm your brother, and I understand that. I wouldn't expect it to. But you need all the help you can get, and here, drug-addled humans aren't going to cut it.
[Their discussion in the holy fire, when Lucifer had told him he would be the next to hunted, that he should look out for himself by becoming allies with Lucifer. He remembers it perfectly, of course.]
[Action]
Hello, Castiel. We need to talk.
[Action]
Lucifer.
[He isn't sure whether to be frightened, angry, or confused, so he settles for all three.]

Talk about what?
[He doesn't bother demanding Lucifer let him go; like that's going to do anything.]

God is here somewhere. I spoke to Him.

Why?

I said I wasn't going to hurt you. If I wanted to, you'd be dead, so stop acting like a request is going to take off your arm.
[He holds Castiel like that for a second.]
It's been a long week. You understand if my temper is a little short.
You're weak. Why aren't you healing?
